2021 Audi A8 L 60 TFSI e quattro

This is the A8 plug-in hybrid — the car the catalog lists as the A8 L e — and 2021 was its final U.S. model year; Audi dropped it for 2022, leaving the A8 with a single powertrain in America. At $95,900 it pairs the 55 TFSI's turbo 3.0-liter V6 with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed transmission and a 14.1-kWh lithium-ion pack, for 443 hp and 516 lb-ft combined and an Audi-estimated 4.9 seconds to 60 mph. The EPA rates it at 53 MPGe combined, 23 mpg combined once the battery is depleted, 18 miles of electric range and 420 miles total. The battery sits under the trunk floor and cuts cargo space to 10.4 cubic feet.

2021 Audi A8 L 60 TFSI quattro

The 60 TFSI is the V8 A8, listing at $98,900 and, like the plug-in hybrid, sold in the U.S. for the last time in 2021. Its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 also carries a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and makes 453 hp and 487 lb-ft, good for an Audi-estimated 4.5 seconds to 60 mph and a 155-mph limited top speed. For 2021 it gained sport-style bumpers, black exterior trim and brake calipers, premium LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels and premium leather upholstery over the 55 TFSI. EPA ratings drop to 15 mpg city and 23 highway.

2026 Audi A8 L

For 2026 the A8 is down to a single trim and a single powertrain: the long-wheelbase A8 L quattro at $95,100 before Audi's $1,395 destination charge, listed by MotorTrend as limited availability because Audi is winding the car down. Its turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 48-volt mild-hybrid assist makes 335 hp and 369 lb-ft through an eight-speed Tiptronic with paddles, and MotorTrend's test car ran 60 mph in 5.4 seconds — the same figure as the Car of the Year-winning Genesis G90. The EPA rates it 19 mpg city and 27 highway for 477 miles between fill-ups. Changes for 2026 are minor: Audi's Signature Care maintenance program for three years or 30,000 miles, a Daytona Gray paint option, and the old Luxury and Executive packages consolidated into one Executive Plus bundle that carries adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, a head-up display, remote parking assist and Valcona leather.
