The BMW 6 Series is the brand's large luxury coupe line, revived in 2004 and sold in its third generation from 2012 as three separate bodies: the F13 coupe, the F12 convertible with a fabric soft top, and the F06 Gran Coupe, a four-door fastback that was BMW's first four-door coupe. BMW 6 Series: General Information
The BMW 6 Series is the brand's large luxury coupe line, revived in 2004 and sold in its third generation from 2012 as three separate bodies: the F13 coupe, the F12 convertible with a fabric soft top, and the F06 Gran Coupe, a four-door fastback that was BMW's first four-door coupe. The U.S. line-up was simple: the 640i used a 315-hp 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, and the 650i a 445-hp 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, with an M6 above them. BMW wound the range down in stages — the coupe left after the 2017 model year, the convertible after 2018, and the Gran Coupe after 2019, by which point an 8 Series had been announced as its replacement. Alongside them, an unrelated 6 Series Gran Turismo (G32) arrived for 2018: a tall five-seat hatchback built on the 7 Series platform, sold in the U.S. only as the 640i xDrive with 335 hp and 31 cu ft of luggage space.
Across its final years the U.S. 6 Series spans 315 to 445 horsepower outside the M6, EPA ratings from 18 to 24 mpg combined, and prices from about $70,000 for a Gran Turismo to over $100,000 for a 650i xDrive convertible.
