BMW 7 Series: General Information

The BMW 7 Series is the brand's flagship full-size luxury sedan. The seventh generation, code G70, arrived for the 2023 model year and is the first 7 Series engineered from the outset to offer a fully electric version — the i7 — alongside combustion and plug-in-hybrid models. It is longer, wider and taller than the G11 it replaced, with a split headlight design, illuminated Iconic Glow kidney grilles, automatic doors, and an optional 31-inch 8K Theatre Screen that folds down from the roof for rear passengers.

The U.S. combustion range opened for 2023 with the 375-hp 740i and the 536-hp 760i xDrive V8, both using 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance. For 2024 BMW added 740i xDrive and the 483-hp 750e xDrive plug-in hybrid, which offers roughly 30 miles of electric range. Standard equipment includes the curved display with iDrive 8, an Interaction Bar across the dashboard, rear-axle steering and adaptive two-axle air suspension.

The G70 seats five and carries 19.1 cu ft of luggage, or 18.5 cu ft in the plug-in hybrid. U.S. prices run from the mid-$90,000s for a 740i to about $125,000 for a 760i xDrive, with EPA ratings from 20 to 28 mpg combined.
