The Ford Focus Electric was the five-door battery-electric version of the third-generation Focus. Introduced for the 2012 model year, it shared its body and Michigan assembly line with the gasoline Focus but used a front-mounted electric motor, a liquid-cooled battery, and a cargo-area charging module. Ford sold it in a single, well-equipped U.S. trim until production ended in May 2018.
Early models used a 23-kWh battery and earned a 76-mile EPA range rating at 105 MPGe combined. For 2017, Ford increased capacity to 33.5 kWh and added CCS DC fast charging, raising range to 115 miles and combined efficiency to 107 MPGe while the motor remained rated at 143 hp. U.S. starting prices moved from $39,995 including destination at launch to $29,120 for the final 2017 and 2018 model years.
