Ford Ford GT: General Information

The Ford GT is Ford's limited-production, mid-engine two-seat halo car, created as a modern successor to the Le Mans-winning GT40. Its low two-door coupe body, rear-wheel-drive layout and racing-led engineering emphasize aerodynamic performance over everyday practicality.

The first modern generation was sold for the 2005 and 2006 model years with a supercharged 5.4L V8. The carbon-fiber second generation arrived for 2017 and remained in production through 2022, using a 3.5L twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 and a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle.

Across the two modern generations, output ranged from 550 to 660 hp and EPA combined economy stayed near 14 mpg. Original U.S. base pricing rose from $139,995 for the first generation to more than $500,000 for the second, which added active aerodynamics, hydraulically adjustable pushrod suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes and available carbon-fiber wheels.
