Honda Passport — Specs, Trims, Prices & Owner Reviews
The Honda Passport is a five-seat, two-row mid-size SUV that sits between the compact CR-V and the three-row Pilot in Honda's North American line-up. Every modern Passport is built at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in Lincoln, Alabama, on the same Global Light Truck Platform that underpins the Pilot, the Odyssey minivan, the Ridgeline pickup and the Acura MDX — which is why it drives like a tall wagon while still offering genuine towing capacity and a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system.

Honda Passport: General Information
The Honda Passport is a five-seat, two-row mid-size SUV that sits between the compact CR-V and the three-row Pilot in Honda's North American line-up. Every modern Passport is built at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in Lincoln, Alabama, on the same Global Light Truck Platform that underpins the Pilot, the Odyssey minivan, the Ridgeline pickup and the Acura MDX — which is why it drives like a tall wagon while still offering genuine towing capacity and a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system.
The nameplate has two very different lives. The original Passport (1994-2002) was a badge-engineered Isuzu Rodeo, a body-on-frame truck assembled by Subaru Isuzu Automotive in Lafayette, Indiana, and sold as Honda's first entry into the 1990s SUV boom; it was retired in 2002 once the Honda-engineered Pilot arrived. Honda revived the name for the 2019 model year with a completely different vehicle: a unibody crossover, designed in the United States, that is essentially a shorter Pilot with the third row removed. A facelift arrived for 2022 along with Honda's first-ever TrailSport trim, and an all-new fourth generation with a boxier body, a new V6 and standard all-wheel drive launched for 2026.
The Passport has never offered a four-cylinder, a hybrid or an EV — every version uses a 3.5-litre V6 making 280-285 hp and 262 lb-ft, driving through a nine-speed (2019-2025) or ten-speed (2026) automatic. EPA ratings run from 18/23 mpg for the off-road-focused 2026 TrailSport to 20/25 mpg for an early front-drive model, towing is 5,000 lb with all-wheel drive, and cargo space behind the rear seat is class-competitive at 41.2 cu ft on the third generation and 44 cu ft on the fourth. U.S. pricing has spanned roughly $32,000 for a 2019 Sport to about $54,000 for a loaded 2026 TrailSport Elite.
Honda Passport by model year
2019 Honda Passport
2019 Honda Passport Sport FWD
The Passport nameplate returned for 2019 as an all-new two-row crossover, and the Sport is the entry point. It uses the same 280-hp 3.5-litre V6 and nine-speed automatic as every other Passport, with front-wheel drive standard. Unusually for Honda there is no LX grade, so the Sport already includes 20-inch alloys, Honda Sensing and tri-zone climate control. It opened at $31,990 plus a $1,045 destination charge.
2019 Honda Passport Sport AWD
The same entry-level Sport with Honda's i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive, which adds Normal, Snow, Mud and Sand traction modes, raises ground clearance to 8.1 in and lifts the tow rating to 5,000 lb. EPA figures drop one mpg in each cycle to 19/24. All-wheel drive was a $1,900 option on the Sport, so it listed at $33,890.
2019 Honda Passport EX-L FWD
The volume trim for 2019, the EX-L adds the equipment most buyers were cross-shopping for: leather seating, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a power moonroof and a power tailgate. Powertrain is unchanged — 280-hp V6, nine-speed automatic and front-wheel drive — and it started at $36,410.
2019 Honda Passport EX-L AWD
The EX-L with i-VTM4 all-wheel drive, the most popular configuration of the first-year Passport. It keeps the 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic, gains the Sand/Snow/Mud traction modes, extra ground clearance and the 5,000 lb tow rating, and is EPA-rated at 19/24 mpg. Pricing was $38,310.
2019 Honda Passport Touring FWD
Touring builds on the EX-L with full-LED headlights, a hands-free power tailgate, parking sensors, navigation, a 10-speaker premium audio system and a 4G LTE hotspot. Mechanically it is identical to the rest of the range — 280-hp 3.5-litre V6, nine-speed automatic, front-wheel drive — and it listed at $39,280.
2019 Honda Passport Touring AWD
The Touring with i-VTM4 all-wheel drive. It carries the same 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic, adds the four-mode Intelligent Traction Management system and 5,000 lb tow rating, and is rated at 19/24 mpg. NHTSA gave the 2019 Passport a five-star overall crash rating in both drivetrain configurations. MSRP was $41,180.
2019 Honda Passport Elite AWD
The launch flagship, and the only 2019 Passport where all-wheel drive is standard rather than optional. On top of the Touring it adds ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, rain-sensing wipers and auto-dimming side mirrors. The 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic are shared with the rest of the range; MSRP was $43,680.
2020 Honda Passport
2020 Honda Passport Sport FWD
The Passport carried into its second year essentially unchanged, still with the 280-hp 3.5-litre V6 and nine-speed automatic. The base Sport held its $31,990 price for a second year, with the only movement being a $50 rise in the destination charge to $1,095. Honda still offered no LX grade, so 20-inch alloys and Honda Sensing remained standard even here.
2020 Honda Passport Sport AWD
The Sport with i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive, which brings Normal, Snow, Mud and Sand traction modes, 8.1 in of ground clearance and a 5,000 lb tow rating. For 2020 Honda raised the cost of all-wheel drive from $1,900 to a flat $2,000, so the Sport AWD listed at $33,990 with 19/24 mpg EPA ratings.
2020 Honda Passport EX-L FWD
The EX-L remained the sweet spot of the line-up and also held its 2019 price of $36,410. It is the cheapest way into the 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather seating, a moonroof and blind spot monitoring, and it keeps the same 280-hp V6, nine-speed automatic and front-wheel drive.
2020 Honda Passport EX-L AWD
The best-selling combination for 2020: EX-L equipment with i-VTM4 all-wheel drive. The V6 and nine-speed automatic are unchanged and EPA ratings stay at 19/24 mpg, but the $100 increase in the AWD charge pushed the price from $38,310 to $38,410.
2020 Honda Passport Touring FWD
Touring adds full-LED headlights, a hands-free power tailgate, parking sensors, navigation, 10-speaker audio and a 4G LTE hotspot over the EX-L. Powertrain is the familiar 280-hp 3.5-litre V6 with the nine-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, and the price stayed at $39,280 for 2020.
2020 Honda Passport Touring AWD
The Touring with i-VTM4 all-wheel drive, rated at 19/24 mpg and 5,000 lb of towing. Mechanically it is the same 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic used across the range; the 2020 price rose $100 to $41,280 in line with the higher all-wheel-drive charge.
2020 Honda Passport Elite AWD
The 2020 flagship, again the only Passport with standard all-wheel drive. Over the Touring it adds ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, auto-dimming side mirrors and wireless charging. The 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic are unchanged, and the price moved up $100 to $43,780.
2021 Honda Passport
2021 Honda Passport Sport FWD
The big news for 2021 was that Honda finally made the 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard on every trim, so the Sport lost its old 5.0-inch screen. The 280-hp 3.5-litre V6 and nine-speed automatic carry over. Price rose $800 to $32,790 — the first increase since launch — and this would be the Sport's final year.
2021 Honda Passport Sport AWD
The final Sport AWD, now with the larger touchscreen and smartphone mirroring as standard. It keeps the 280-hp V6, nine-speed automatic and i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive with Snow, Mud and Sand modes, is rated at 19/24 mpg, and listed at $34,790 after the $800 across-the-board increase.
2021 Honda Passport EX-L FWD
With the Sport gaining the bigger screen, the 2021 EX-L differentiates itself with leather, a moonroof, heated front seats and a power tailgate. It uses the same 280-hp V6, nine-speed automatic and front-wheel drive as the rest of the range, and its price rose $400 to $36,810.
2021 Honda Passport EX-L AWD
The EX-L with i-VTM4 all-wheel drive was the volume 2021 Passport. Powertrain is unchanged at 280 hp and 262 lb-ft through a nine-speed automatic, EPA ratings stay 19/24 mpg, and the price rose $400 to $38,810. This was the last year before the 2022 facelift reshuffled the whole line-up.
2021 Honda Passport Touring FWD
The 2021 Touring keeps its LED headlights, hands-free tailgate, parking sensors, navigation, 10-speaker audio and 4G LTE hotspot. The 280-hp 3.5-litre V6 and nine-speed automatic are shared with every other Passport and the price rose $400 to $39,680. Touring was dropped entirely for 2022.
2021 Honda Passport Touring AWD
The last Touring AWD, using the familiar 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic with i-VTM4 all-wheel drive, rated 19/24 mpg and 5,000 lb of towing. It listed at $41,680 after the $400 increase, and both Touring variants disappeared when the facelifted 2022 Passport arrived.
2021 Honda Passport Elite AWD
The 2021 flagship, still the only Passport with standard i-VTM4 all-wheel drive, and the only trim to survive the 2022 reshuffle alongside the EX-L. It adds ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and auto-dimming mirrors over the Touring, uses the same 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic, and rose $400 to $44,180.
2022 Honda Passport
2022 Honda Passport EX-L FWD
The facelifted 2022 Passport wears all-new sheet metal ahead of the A-pillars, sharing the Ridgeline's taller hood and more upright, truck-like face. Honda also killed the Sport and Touring trims, making the EX-L the new entry point. The 280-hp 3.5-litre V6 and nine-speed automatic are untouched. Honda launched it at $37,870 and raised it to $38,370 during the model year; this was the last front-wheel-drive Passport.
2022 Honda Passport EX-L AWD
The same restyled EX-L with i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive, four traction modes, 8.1 in of ground clearance and a 5,000 lb tow rating. The 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic carry over and EPA ratings are 19/24 mpg. Honda listed it at $39,970 at launch and $40,470 later in the year.
2022 Honda Passport TrailSport AWD
The very first TrailSport in the Honda line-up, introduced in September 2021 for the 2022 model year. Built on EX-L equipment with standard i-VTM4 all-wheel drive, it adds model-specific bumpers, cosmetic skid-plate inserts, a wider track, 18-inch wheels with more aggressive all-season tyres, and easy-clean leatherette with orange stitching. At this stage it was appearance-led — there is no lift or suspension upgrade. Honda launched it at $42,470 and later raised it to $42,970.
2022 Honda Passport Elite AWD
The 2022 flagship keeps standard i-VTM4 all-wheel drive, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, wireless charging and rain-sensing wipers, now behind the facelifted nose. The 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic are unchanged. Honda's launch price was $45,430, revised to $45,930 later in the model year.
2023 Honda Passport
2023 Honda Passport EX-L AWD
For 2023 Honda dropped the front-wheel-drive EX-L, so i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive became standard on every Passport. Nothing else changed mechanically: the 280-hp 3.5-litre V6 and nine-speed automatic carry over, EPA ratings stay at 19/24 mpg and towing is 5,000 lb. The EX-L is now the entry point at $41,100.
2023 Honda Passport TrailSport AWD
Year two for the Passport TrailSport, still an appearance-and-tyres package rather than a hardware upgrade — the trim-specific suspension tune and true all-terrain tyres would not arrive until 2024. It uses the same 280-hp V6, nine-speed automatic and standard i-VTM4 all-wheel drive as the rest of the 2023 range, and slots in the middle at $43,600.
2023 Honda Passport Elite AWD
The last Passport Elite: for 2024 Honda replaced it with the Black Edition. It retains ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, rain-sensing wipers and a Wi-Fi hotspot, running the familiar 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic with standard all-wheel drive. MSRP was $46,560.
2024 Honda Passport
2024 Honda Passport EX-L AWD
The 2024 update is modest: a larger centre console with a new armrest, and the Elite trim replaced by a Black Edition. The EX-L remains the base Passport with the 280-hp 3.5-litre V6, nine-speed automatic and standard i-VTM4 all-wheel drive. Honda raised the price $800 to $41,900, which works out at $43,275 with the $1,375 destination charge.
2024 Honda Passport TrailSport AWD
2024 is the year the Passport TrailSport stopped being a sticker package. Honda fitted genuine 245/60R18 all-terrain tyres on TrailSport-exclusive 18-inch Pewter Gray wheels and gave it a trim-specific off-road suspension tune, following the lead of the Pilot TrailSport. The 280-hp V6, nine-speed automatic and i-VTM4 all-wheel drive are unchanged, and it listed at $44,500.
2024 Honda Passport Black Edition AWD
New for 2024, the Black Edition takes over from the Elite as the range-topper and swaps its bright trim for blacked-out details, including 20-inch Berlina Black alloys and black badging. Equipment mirrors the old Elite — ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, wireless charging, acoustic front side glass — over the same 280-hp V6, nine-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. MSRP was $47,970.
2025 Honda Passport
2025 Honda Passport EX-L AWD
2025 was the run-out year for the third-generation Passport, with production ending in March 2025 ahead of the all-new 2026 model. The line-up and hardware are unchanged: 280-hp 3.5-litre V6, nine-speed automatic and standard i-VTM4 all-wheel drive. The EX-L remains the base car, up $500 to $42,400, and this is its final model year — the 2026 range starts with an RTL instead.
2025 Honda Passport TrailSport AWD
The last third-generation TrailSport, carrying over the 2024 upgrades: 245/60R18 all-terrain tyres on 18-inch Pewter Gray wheels, an off-road-tuned suspension and a wider track. Powertrain is the familiar 280-hp V6 with the nine-speed automatic and i-VTM4 all-wheel drive. It listed at $45,000, and the TrailSport name carried straight over into the redesigned 2026 Passport.
2025 Honda Passport Black Edition AWD
The second and final Passport Black Edition, topping the 2025 range at $48,470. It pairs blacked-out 20-inch Berlina Black alloys and dark exterior trim with the Elite-derived equipment list — ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel and acoustic front side glass — using the same 280-hp V6, nine-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. There is no Black Edition in the 2026 line-up.
2026 Honda Passport
2026 Honda Passport RTL AWD
The fourth-generation Passport launched on 11 February 2025 as a 2026 model, with a boxier body, a 2.9 in longer wheelbase and Honda's new narrow-angle 3.5-litre V6 making 285 hp through the brand's first ten-speed automatic in this model. Second-generation i-VTM4 all-wheel drive is standard on every version. RTL replaces the old EX-L as the entry grade; Honda announced it at $44,750 and it is now listed at $44,950. MotorTrend recorded 0-60 mph in 7.1 seconds.
2026 Honda Passport TrailSport AWD
The 2026 TrailSport is the first genuinely off-road-focused Passport. It adds an off-road-tuned suspension, steel underbody skid plates, orange high-visibility recovery hooks, amber daytime running lights, a Trail drive mode and 31-inch (275/60R18) all-terrain tyres. The 285-hp V6 and ten-speed automatic are shared with the RTL, but the knobbly tyres cost fuel economy: 18/23 mpg. It starts at $48,650 and MotorTrend timed it at 7.7 seconds to 60 mph.
2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Elite AWD
New for 2026, the TrailSport Elite is the flagship and combines the TrailSport's off-road hardware with the luxury kit. It adds the TrailWatch exterior camera system with tyre-path graphics, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, perforated leather, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and a hands-free power tailgate. Powertrain is the same 285-hp V6 with the ten-speed automatic, rated 18/23 mpg, and it opens at $52,650.
