The Honda CR-V is the compact, five-seat crossover that has anchored Honda's SUV lineup in the United States since the 1997 model year. It sits between the subcompact HR-V and the larger, three-row Passport and Pilot, and it is one of the highest-volume vehicles Honda sells anywhere — U.S. deliveries have run between roughly 240,000 and 400,000 units a year for the past decade, and the CR-V overtook the Ford F-Series and Toyota RAV4 to become America's best-selling vehicle in the first half of 2026. Most U.S.-market CR-Vs are built in North America, at East Liberty and Marysville in Ohio, Greensburg in Indiana, and Alliston in Ontario.
The CR-V's reputation rests on packaging rather than outright performance.
