Honda Odyssey: General Information
The Honda Odyssey is Honda's full-size minivan for North America. It has been sold in the United States since the 1995 model year and, since 2004, has been built exclusively at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in Lincoln. The fifth-generation van (chassis code RL6) went on sale in May 2017 as a 2018 model and rides on a 118.1-inch wheelbase, measuring 203.2 inches long, 78.5 inches wide and 69.5 inches tall.
Every U.S. fifth-generation Odyssey uses the same drivetrain: a 3.5-liter SOHC i-VTEC V6 with direct injection and Variable Cylinder Management, rated at 280 hp at 6,000 rpm and 262 lb-ft at 4,700 rpm, driving the front wheels. A ZF nine-speed automatic served the lower trims through 2019; from the 2020 model year Honda's own 10-speed automatic became standard across the range. There is no hybrid and no all-wheel-drive option — unusual in a segment where the Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica both offer electrification — and the EPA rates every version at 19/28 mpg city/highway.
Practical packaging is the Odyssey's core argument. It seats seven or eight across three rows, offers 40.9 inches of first- and second-row legroom, and swallows 32.8 cubic feet of cargo behind the third row or roughly 141-145 cubic feet with the rear seats stowed. Magic Slide second-row seats, the CabinWatch rear-seat camera and the CabinTalk in-car PA system are signature family features on the upper trims, and the van has earned a five-star overall NHTSA rating in every fifth-generation model year tested.

2015 Honda Odyssey LX
The base Odyssey carries over unchanged after the extensive 2014 facelift that brought new sheetmetal, an aluminum hood and the six-speed automatic to every trim. Power comes from Honda's 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 with Variable Cylinder Management, driving the front wheels. The LX seats seven rather than eight because the removable second-row center seat is reserved for EX and above. Starts at $28,975.
2015 Honda Odyssey EX
The EX adds the removable second-row center seat that turns the Odyssey into an eight-seater, plus power sliding rear doors and Honda's LaneWatch passenger-side camera. It is mechanically identical to the LX, using the same 248-hp V6 and six-speed automatic. Smart Entry with push-button start became standard on EX and above with the 2014 refresh and carries over untouched for 2015. Starts at $32,275.
2015 Honda Odyssey EX-L
The leather-trimmed volume model, adding a power moonroof, heated front seats, a power tailgate and the air-conditioned Cool Box console. It is also the entry point for forward collision warning and lane departure warning, which are not offered on lower grades. Navigation is available as a package on top of the standard car. Starts at $35,775.
2015 Honda Odyssey Touring
Touring makes standard what the EX-L only offers as options: satellite-linked navigation and the DVD rear entertainment system are both included, along with 18-inch alloy wheels, driver's seat memory and heated side mirrors. The powertrain is unchanged, because the six-speed automatic that used to be a Touring exclusive spread to the whole range for 2014. Starts at $42,030.
2015 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite
The range-topping Odyssey and the only 2015 trim with the HondaVAC built-in vacuum cleaner, which runs off the van's 12-volt system. It also gets HID xenon low beams, a 650-watt 12-speaker surround system, blind spot information and the 16.2-inch Ultrawide rear entertainment screen with an HDMI input. Mechanically it is identical to every other Odyssey. Starts at $44,600.

The entry Odyssey is mechanically unchanged for 2016, still using the 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 with Variable Cylinder Management and the six-speed automatic that became range-wide with the 2014 facelift. It seats seven, since the removable second-row center seat is reserved for EX and above. Prices rose $425 over 2015, to $29,400.

2016 Honda Odyssey SE
New to the U.S. lineup for 2016 after several years as a Canada-only grade, the SE slots between EX and EX-L. It is the cheapest way into the HondaVAC built-in vacuum cleaner, and it also brings a rear-seat entertainment system, a 115-volt outlet and SiriusXM radio without the EX-L's leather. Powertrain is the standard 248-hp V6 with the six-speed automatic. Starts at $33,500.
2016 Honda Odyssey EX-L
The leather-trimmed volume grade, with a power moonroof, heated front seats, a power tailgate and the air-conditioned Cool Box. It is also the entry point for forward collision warning and lane departure warning. Navigation is offered as a package above the standard car. Starts at $36,050.
2016 Honda Odyssey Touring
Touring makes navigation and the DVD rear entertainment system standard, and adds 18-inch alloy wheels, driver's seat memory and heated side mirrors. The powertrain is shared with the rest of the range now that the six-speed automatic is no longer a Touring exclusive. Starts at $42,305.
2016 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite
The flagship Odyssey pairs the HondaVAC vacuum with HID xenon low beams, a 650-watt 12-speaker surround system, Blind Spot Information and the 16.2-inch Ultrawide rear entertainment screen with HDMI. Blind spot warning remains exclusive to this grade for 2016. Mechanically it matches every other Odyssey. Starts at $44,875.

The last fourth-generation Odyssey LX, sold alongside the all-new fifth-generation van that arrived in mid-2017 as a 2018 model. Updates for 2017 were minimal and the LX was untouched, keeping the 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 with Variable Cylinder Management and the six-speed automatic. It seats seven, since the removable second-row center seat starts at EX. Starts at $29,850.

The SE's second and final U.S. model year, since the grade did not carry over to the fifth-generation van. It remains the cheapest Odyssey with a built-in vacuum. Starts at $33,950.

2018 Honda Odyssey LX
First year of the redesigned fifth-generation (RL6) Odyssey, which went on sale in May 2017 on a stiffer body structure using ultra-high-strength steel, aluminum and magnesium. A new direct-injected J35Y6 V6 makes 280 hp and 262 lb-ft, 32 hp more than the outgoing van, and the LX pairs it with a nine-speed ZF automatic. Shift-by-wire pushbutton gear selection makes pushbutton start standard even on the base trim. Starts at $29,990.
2018 Honda Odyssey EX
The EX is where the redesign gets interesting: Honda Sensing becomes standard, LaneWatch is replaced by Blind Spot Information with Cross Traffic Monitor, and the new Magic Slide second-row seats can shuffle sideways or be removed. It also gains the 8.0-inch Display Audio touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Same 280-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic as the LX. Starts at $33,960.
2018 Honda Odyssey EX-L
The leather grade adds a moonroof, power tailgate, auto-dimming mirror and second-row USB ports on top of the EX's safety and infotainment content. A combined navigation and rear entertainment package brings the 10.2-inch Blu-ray RES screen and CabinTalk in-car PA. Still uses the nine-speed automatic. Starts at $37,460.
2018 Honda Odyssey Touring
Touring swaps the ZF nine-speed for Honda's own 10-speed automatic, the first 10-speed ever fitted to a front-wheel-drive production car and about 29 lb lighter than the old six-speed. It also brings LED headlights, the HondaVAC vacuum, a hands-free power tailgate, front and rear parking sensors, CabinWatch rear-seat camera and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Starts at $44,610.
2018 Honda Odyssey Elite
The flagship grade debuts for 2018, replacing the fourth generation's Touring Elite with a shorter name and more content. On top of the Touring it adds 19-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, power-folding mirrors, blue LED ambient lighting and a 550-watt 11-speaker audio system. MotorTrend recorded 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds in an Elite. Starts at $46,770.

The second year of the fifth-generation Odyssey brought no significant changes, so the base LX carries over with the 280-hp direct-injected V6 and the ZF nine-speed automatic. It still rides on 18-inch alloys and uses shift-by-wire pushbutton gear selection, and it seats seven because the removable second-row center seat starts at EX. Prices rose $200 over 2018, to $30,190.

The EX remains the value pick, adding Honda Sensing, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, Magic Slide second-row seats and the 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Its powertrain is unchanged from the LX, with the nine-speed automatic. Starts at $34,160.

Building on the EX, the EX-L adds a moonroof, power tailgate, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather-trimmed seating and two extra second-row USB ports. The range-topping Elite adds power-folding mirrors, a heated steering wheel, blue LED ambient lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, an 11-speaker audio system and wireless phone charging. MotorTrend timed an Odyssey Elite at 6.9 seconds to 60 mph and 124 feet from 60 mph to a stop. Starts at $47,070.

The big 2020 change is under the floor: the ZF nine-speed automatic was discontinued, so every Odyssey including the base LX now uses Honda's 10-speed with automatic engine start/stop. The 280-hp direct-injected V6 is unchanged and EPA ratings stay at 19/28 mpg. A dealer-installed 25th Anniversary appearance package was offered on all trims. Starts at $30,690.

The EX gains the 10-speed automatic for 2020 along with the rest of the range. It remains the entry point for Honda Sensing, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, Magic Slide sliding second-row seats and the 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Starts at $34,690.

The EX-L adds an acoustic windshield, power sunroof, power tailgate, HomeLink, memory-linked mirrors with reverse tilt-down and leather seating for the first two rows. A Navi/RES package brings navigation, the 10.2-inch Blu-ray rear entertainment screen, CabinTalk and a 110-volt outlet. Now uses the 10-speed automatic. Starts at $37,960.

The LX opens the facelifted 2021 range at $31,790 and is the only Odyssey configured for seven passengers, using a fixed second-row bench instead of the Magic Slide seats. Powertrain is the same 280-hp 3.5-liter V6 and 10-speed automatic used by every other trim. The big change for 2021 is that Honda Sensing — previously reserved for EX and above — is now standard here as well, alongside the refreshed grille, tailgate trim and LED headlights.

At $35,190 the EX is the volume Odyssey and the point where the van becomes an eight-seater, thanks to Honda's Magic Slide second-row seats that slide sideways as well as fore and aft. It swaps the LX's 5.0-inch monochrome-style display for an 8.0-inch Display Audio touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio and satellite radio, and adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert on top of the now-standard Honda Sensing suite.
2021 Honda Odyssey EX-L
The $38,460 EX-L layers leather-trimmed upholstery, a one-touch power moonroof, a power tailgate and acoustic windshield glass onto the EX. As part of the 2021 update it also picks up four-way power lumbar adjustment for the front passenger seat and perforated leather with contrasting piping. Honda dropped the previous navigation and rear-entertainment option package from the EX-L for 2021, so buyers wanting those features now have to step up to the Touring.

Touring is where the Odyssey's family-tech arsenal arrives: at $42,500 it adds onboard navigation, the CabinWatch rear-seat camera, the CabinTalk in-car PA system, a 10.2-inch rear entertainment system, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, the HondaVac built-in vacuum, a hands-free power tailgate and a heated steering wheel. For 2021 CabinWatch also gains a rear-seat occupant reminder designed to prevent children being left behind. It rolls on 19-inch wheels.
2021 Honda Odyssey Elite
The $47,820 Elite tops the 2021 lineup, adding an 11-speaker premium audio system to the Touring's equipment along with ventilated front seats, LED accent lighting and the facelift's two-tone perforated leather with contrasting piping. Like the Touring it runs 19-inch wheels and carries CabinWatch, CabinTalk, the HondaVac and the 10.2-inch rear entertainment display.

The seven-seat LX returns for what turns out to be its final year, opening the 2022 range at $33,040 — about $1,250 more than the 2021 car. Mechanically nothing changes: 280 hp from the 3.5-liter V6 through a 10-speed automatic to the front wheels. Improved headlights across the range help the 2022 Odyssey collect an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, and Honda Sensing remains standard even at this price.

The $36,440 EX remains the sweet spot of the lineup and the cheapest eight-passenger Odyssey, thanks to Magic Slide second-row seats that move sideways as well as fore and aft. It upgrades to the 8.0-inch Display Audio touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Everything else carries over from 2021.
2022 Honda Odyssey EX-L
At $39,710 the EX-L adds leather-trimmed seating, a one-touch power moonroof, a power tailgate and acoustic windshield glass to the EX's equipment. As in 2021 there is no factory navigation or rear-entertainment option here — those move to Touring and above — which keeps the EX-L a clean, single-configuration trim.
2022 Honda Odyssey Touring
The $43,750 Touring brings the Odyssey's headline family technology: onboard navigation, the CabinWatch rear-seat camera with occupant reminder, the CabinTalk in-car PA system, a 10.2-inch rear entertainment system, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and the HondaVac built-in vacuum. A hands-free power tailgate, heated steering wheel and 19-inch wheels are also part of the package.
2022 Honda Odyssey Elite
The $48,770 Elite tops the 2022 range and is the only Odyssey with the 11-speaker premium audio system. It builds on the Touring with two-tone perforated leather, ventilated front seats and LED accent lighting, and keeps the CabinWatch, CabinTalk, HondaVac and 10.2-inch rear entertainment system hardware.

With the seven-seat LX dropped for 2023, the eight-passenger EX becomes the entry point at $37,490 and the 8.0-inch Display Audio touchscreen is now standard across the whole Odyssey range. Powertrain is unchanged — 280 hp from the 3.5-liter V6 through a 10-speed automatic — and every 2023 Odyssey now comes with the new Honda Service Pass, covering scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.
2023 Honda Odyssey EX-L
MotorTrend's pick of the range, the $40,560 EX-L adds leather-trimmed seating, a one-touch power moonroof, a power tailgate and acoustic windshield glass over the EX. It remains a single-configuration trim with no navigation or rear-entertainment option, and sits just below the new Sport in the 2023 walk.
2023 Honda Odyssey Sport
Brand new for 2023, the $41,360 Sport slots between the EX-L and the Touring and is a purely cosmetic upgrade — the V6 and 10-speed automatic are untouched. It gets 19-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, a black grille, darkened headlights and taillights, gloss-black exterior accents and the first body-colored door handles on an Odyssey since the 2005-2010 third generation. Inside there is black leather with red contrast stitching and red ambient lighting.
2023 Honda Odyssey Touring
At $44,600 the Touring leapfrogs the Sport on equipment, adding onboard navigation, the CabinWatch rear-seat camera, the CabinTalk PA system, a 10.2-inch rear entertainment system, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, the HondaVac built-in vacuum, front and rear parking sensors and 19-inch alloy wheels to the EX-L's content.
2023 Honda Odyssey Elite
The $49,620 Elite remains the flagship and the only 2023 Odyssey with the 11-speaker premium audio system. It layers two-tone perforated leather, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a hands-free power tailgate over the Touring, and keeps CabinWatch, CabinTalk, the HondaVac and the 10.2-inch rear entertainment screen.

The Odyssey carries over unchanged for 2024, so the $38,240 EX keeps the same trim structure, feature content and hardware as the 2023 car: 280-hp 3.5-liter V6, 10-speed automatic, eight seats with Magic Slide second row and an 8.0-inch Display Audio touchscreen. This turns out to be the EX's final model year — Honda deletes it for 2025 and makes the EX-L the base Odyssey.
2024 Honda Odyssey EX-L
MotorTrend's recommended Odyssey, the $41,310 EX-L adds leather-trimmed seating, a one-touch power moonroof, a power tailgate and acoustic windshield glass to the EX. It is unchanged from 2023 and sits near the value end of the range — the reason it becomes the base trim when Honda restructures the lineup for 2025.
2024 Honda Odyssey Sport
In its second and final year under this name, the $42,260 Sport again dresses the EX-L's mechanicals in blacked-out styling: 19-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, a black grille, darkened headlights and taillights, gloss-black exterior accents and body-colored door handles, with black leather, red contrast stitching and red ambient lighting inside. For 2025 the trim returns as the Sport-L.
2024 Honda Odyssey Touring
At $45,500 the Touring is where the Odyssey's family-tech package lives: onboard navigation, the CabinWatch rear-seat camera, the CabinTalk in-car PA system, a 10.2-inch rear entertainment system, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, the HondaVac built-in vacuum, front and rear parking sensors and 19-inch alloy wheels. Nothing changes for 2024.
2024 Honda Odyssey Elite
The $50,370 Elite closes out the pre-refresh Odyssey as the only trim with the 11-speaker premium audio system. On top of the Touring it brings two-tone perforated leather, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a hands-free power tailgate, and it keeps CabinWatch, CabinTalk, the HondaVac and the 10.2-inch rear entertainment display.

2025 Honda Odyssey EX-L
The second facelift of the fifth-generation Odyssey arrives for 2025 and restructures the lineup: the EX is deleted and the $42,220 EX-L becomes the base van. Every trim now gets a 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster, a 9.0-inch touchscreen with a faster processor and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a wireless phone charger. Outside there is a new grille, larger black foglight surrounds and a redesigned rear bumper with vertical reflectors borrowed from the second-generation Acura NSX.
2025 Honda Odyssey Sport-L
The blacked-out Sport is renamed Sport-L for 2025 and costs $43,370. It keeps the 280-hp V6 and 10-speed automatic and adds Berlina Black 19-inch wheels, darkened taillights and gloss-black treatment for the grille, door mirrors, B- and C-pillars and the headlight, foglight and taillight surrounds. Inside there is black leather with red contrast stitching on the steering wheel and front and second-row outboard seats, a black headliner, red ambient lighting and two third-row USB-C ports.
2025 Honda Odyssey Touring
At $46,910 the Touring adds onboard navigation, the CabinWatch child-viewing camera, the rear entertainment system — now a 12.8-inch high-resolution screen with the HDMI input relocated into a console storage bin — third-row sunshades, an extra third-row USB-C port, front and rear parking sensors and contrast stitching and piping on all three rows of seats.
2025 Honda Odyssey Elite
The $51,180 Elite tops the refreshed 2025 range with new 19-inch wheel designs, two-tone perforated leather with piping, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, the premium audio system, rain-sensing wipers, a hands-free power tailgate and auto-dimming side mirrors. Like the rest of the lineup it gains the 9.0-inch touchscreen, 7.0-inch digital cluster and wireless smartphone mirroring.

After the 2025 refresh the Odyssey carries over unchanged into 2026, with the EX-L still the entry point at $42,795. The $43,895 Sport-L is the style pick of the 2026 range, adding Berlina Black 19-inch wheels, darkened taillights and gloss-black grille, mirror, pillar and light-surround accents. Inside it uses black leather with red contrast stitching, a black headliner and red ambient lighting, and it adds third-row USB-C ports over the base EX-L. Nothing changes mechanically.

At $47,495 the Touring is the value-tech Odyssey, bringing onboard navigation, the CabinWatch child-viewing camera, the 12.8-inch rear-seat entertainment screen with HDMI input, third-row sunshades and front and rear parking sensors. CabinTalk, Honda's in-car PA system, lets the driver be heard clearly in the third row.
2026 Honda Odyssey Elite
The $51,695 Elite remains the flagship and the only 2026 Odyssey with the 11-speaker premium audio system. It adds upgraded two-tone perforated leather, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, side-window sunshades, rain-sensing wipers, a hands-free power tailgate and auto-dimming side mirrors, on top of the Touring's navigation, CabinWatch and 12.8-inch rear entertainment screen.
