Only one generation has been sold in America, and it ran from the 2023 through the 2025 model years. It shares the 800-volt E-GMP platform with the Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and Genesis GV60, and in the U.S. it was offered with three powertrains: a 53-kWh rear-drive Standard Range making 149 hp, a 77.4-kWh rear-drive Long Range making 225 hp, and a 77.4-kWh dual-motor Long Range AWD making 320 hp and 446 lb-ft. Trim levels were SE Standard Range, SE, SEL and Limited, with all-wheel drive optional on the latter three. A facelifted car with a squared-off nose, a ducktail spoiler and a new N Line appearance package was shown at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, but Hyundai chose not to bring it to America: citing weak sales, import tariffs and the end of the federal EV tax credit, it discontinued the regular Ioniq 6 in the United States after 2025 and kept only the high-performance Ioniq 6 N for 2026.
Standout traits are efficiency and charging speed. The rear-drive Long Range car on 18-inch wheels was EPA-rated at up to 361 miles and 140 MPGe combined — among the best figures of any electric sedan sold at the time — and the 800-volt architecture allows a 10-to-80-percent DC fast charge in about 18 minutes on a 350-kW charger. Every U.S. car seats five, carries six airbags, earned a five-star NHTSA overall rating and an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, and rides on a long 116.1-inch wheelbase. The trade-off is packaging: the fastback roofline leaves only an 11.2-cubic-foot trunk with no front trunk, and there is no towing rating. Output spans 149 to 320 hp, EPA combined efficiency runs from 103 to 140 MPGe, and base prices across the American run ranged from roughly $37,500 to $56,100 before destination.

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 SE Standard Range
The SE Standard Range opens the first-ever Ioniq 6 lineup at $41,600 and is the only trim built around the smaller 53-kWh battery, which feeds a single rear motor rated at 149 hp and 258 lb-ft. It was originally not planned for the United States at all, and Hyundai added it late as the volume price leader. Despite the small pack it is the second-most efficient Ioniq 6 you can buy, at 135 MPGe combined, and it rides on the aerodynamically favorable 18-inch wheels.

The SE is the entry Long Range car, pairing the 77.4-kWh battery with a 225-hp rear motor for $45,500, or with a second front motor and 320 hp for $49,000. On its 18-inch wheels the rear-drive SE is the range and efficiency champion of the whole lineup at 361 miles and 140 MPGe combined. Equipment is deliberately basic — cloth seats, a six-speaker stereo and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — but every SE still gets the full Hyundai SmartSense driver-assist suite.

The SEL is the mid-grade Long Range car at $47,700 with rear drive or $51,200 with all-wheel drive, and it is the point where the Ioniq 6 switches to 20-inch wheels and 245/40 tires. That costs range — 305 miles rear-drive and 270 with AWD — but buys leatherette upholstery, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a power passenger seat and remote smart parking assist. It uses the same 225-hp and 320-hp powertrains as the SE.

The Limited tops the 2023 range at $52,600 rear-drive and $56,100 with all-wheel drive, and it is the only Ioniq 6 with a fixed-glass sunroof, a Bose eight-speaker audio system with subwoofer, ventilated front seats, a digital rearview mirror and Highway Driving Assist II. Its lower-set front seats trim front headroom to 36.8 inches. Powertrains and EPA figures are shared with the SEL: 305 miles rear-drive, 270 miles with AWD.

The SE Standard Range carries over mechanically unchanged for 2024 but drops $4,100 to $37,500, the biggest price cut anywhere in the lineup and the moment the Ioniq 6 became one of the cheapest new EVs in America. It still uses the 53-kWh pack and a single 149-hp rear motor, and it still returns 240 miles of EPA range and 135 MPGe combined on its 18-inch wheels.

The SE Long Range is otherwise unchanged for 2024 but now starts at $42,450 with rear drive or $45,950 with all-wheel drive, roughly $3,000 less than the year before. On 18-inch wheels the rear-drive car remains the efficiency leader of the range at 361 miles and 140 MPGe combined, with the dual-motor version rated at 316 miles and 320 hp.

The 2024 SEL lists at $45,250 rear-drive and $48,750 with all-wheel drive and again marks the switch to 20-inch wheels, which cuts EPA range to 305 miles rear-drive and 270 with AWD.
