Hyundai Ioniq 9 — Specs, Trims, Prices & Owner Reviews
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is a three-row, battery-electric mid-size SUV and the largest passenger EV Hyundai has built. Coded ME1 and designed under SangYup Lee, it was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2024 after years of development as the "Ioniq 7" — the name changed late, in early 2024 — and it draws its styling from the 2021 Seven concept. It is the third model in the Ioniq sub-brand after the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, and it shares the 800-volt E-GMP platform with them as well as with the Kia EV9, Genesis GV60 and GV90.

Hyundai Ioniq 9: General Information
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is a three-row, battery-electric mid-size SUV and the largest passenger EV Hyundai has built. Coded ME1 and designed under SangYup Lee, it was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2024 after years of development as the "Ioniq 7" — the name changed late, in early 2024 — and it draws its styling from the 2021 Seven concept. Every Ioniq 9 uses the same 110.3-kWh NCM lithium-ion battery, the biggest pack Hyundai has fitted to a passenger car. Three powertrains are offered in North America: a 215-hp rear-drive Long Range, a 303-hp dual-motor Long Range AWD, and a 422-hp dual-motor Performance AWD. Hyundai calls the design language "Aerosthetic" — a dual-motion active front air flap, a 3D-shaped underbody cover and low-rolling-resistance tires bring the drag coefficient down to 0.259, unusually slippery for a 199-inch SUV. American cars are built at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America near Savannah, Georgia, alongside the Ioniq 5, and U.S. sales started in May 2025 as a 2026 model.
Standout traits are space, range and charging. On a 123.2-inch wheelbase it offers 42.8 inches of second-row legroom and 32.0 inches in the third row, plus 21.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind row three and 86.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Second-row buyers can choose a bench for seven seats or reclining "Relaxation" captain's chairs for six, and an uninterrupted panoramic glass roof spans all three rows. The 800-volt architecture supports both 400- and 800-volt charging and a 10-to-80-percent DC fast charge in about 24 minutes on a 350-kW charger, with a native NACS port for Tesla Superchargers. EPA range runs from 311 to 335 miles and combined efficiency from 85 to 92 MPGe; towing is rated at 3,500 pounds with rear drive and 5,000 pounds with all-wheel drive. Base prices span roughly $59,000 to $76,500 before destination.

2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9
2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 S
The S opens the first-ever Ioniq 9 range at $58,955 and is the only rear-drive version, with a single 215-hp motor drawing on the same 110.3-kWh battery every other trim gets. That combination makes it the longest-legged Ioniq 9 at 335 miles of EPA range and 92 MPGe combined, and at 5,507 pounds it is also the lightest. It seats seven on a second-row bench, rides on 19-inch wheels, and is the only trim limited to a 3,500-pound tow rating.
2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 SE
The SE is the cheapest all-wheel-drive Ioniq 9 at $62,765, adding a front motor for a combined 303 hp and 446 lb-ft while keeping the seven-seat bench and 19-inch wheels. EPA range falls to 320 miles and 88 MPGe combined, but the tow rating doubles to 5,000 pounds and Hyundai quotes 6.2 seconds to 60 mph. It also gains a power passenger seat over the S.
2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 SEL
The SEL costs $66,320 and keeps the 303-hp dual-motor powertrain, the seven-seat bench and the 320-mile EPA range, but moves up to 20-inch wheels on 275/50 tires. It is the volume family trim, and the last rung before Hyundai's Performance AWD models and their six-seat cabins.
2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 Performance Limited
The Performance Limited is the entry point to the 422-hp dual-motor powertrain at $71,250, and the first Ioniq 9 with second-row captain's chairs — a six-seat cabin with reclining Relaxation seats. It rides on 21-inch wheels and 285/45 tires, gets 14.2-inch front brake rotors and Bose 14-speaker audio, and reaches 60 mph in a claimed 4.9 seconds. The trade-off is range: 311 miles and 85 MPGe combined.
2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 Performance Calligraphy
The Performance Calligraphy tops the 2026 Ioniq 9 range at $74,990, adding ventilated front seats, a digital rearview mirror, a surround-view monitor and remote parking assist to the Performance Limited's 422-hp dual-motor hardware and six-seat cabin. A $1,500 Calligraphy Design package brings a distinct matte-finish exterior treatment and unique wheels. EPA range is 311 miles and 85 MPGe combined.
